Bluey: The Videogame Review (PotBelly)
Would I recommend well yes at the end of the day myself and my 3year old daughter enjoyed playing it together and she immediately brought into the concept. However ignoring the obvious brand appeal the reality is my perfect game would be one where I could leave her to play on her own and to a point that is somewhat possible however the persistent "Out of bounds" glitches and fussy item hit boxes did result in me often having to step in to load a new character to fix out of bound issues where characters would walk under the though objects included falling though the floors of buildings and making steps impossible to climb or me needing to move the character around and item to find the perfect spot where an item could be collected. Also movable items often didnt move as they should.
This constnet flaky behaviour from the game has made left me struggling to leave a top review for a game that has all the makings of a "My FIrst Computer Game" Experience.
At the same time as the 2D view making everything more in tune with the feel of original show my daughter often struggled to realise an exit from an area might be down and towards the camera as she couldnt see it. Personally I liked the 2D view even more for the fact it made controls easier for her as she didnt have to deal with the camera moving but at the same time maybe openings to other areas concealed by the bottom of the screen should be better marked.
If the bugs are fixed this is the perfect game to leave her playing but honestly the much more difficult "Princess Peach Showtime" on switch was a more fun experience for both me and her to play as when she couldn't achieve what she wanted there if felt fair. On this game it feels like the game itself took her control away her when in reality should could of had complete control.
Lastly at £35 I think it deserves these bugs fixed and it will become a perfect solution to gaming for younger gamers.
I have chosen to review this as a father. Quite possibly my daughter would have been happy just to have the lovely graphics true to the show, Nice story telling and perfect scene setting via original writing and vocal artists. But as a father I feel disappointed that this was so close to being the first game she played her way through with miniman guidence and let her own her own completion. The bugs took away an independent win away from her. Also if we are completely honest its nice to be able to trust a game to both engage her and give her full control of her win without dad having to guide her. She loved the world and playing wiht the items often finding her own find away fro just box ticking. This is so almost perfect for her please fix it.
I trust my comments will be taken in balance. It is good but OMG the bugs. A 3year old cant understand why blueys head is moving throught the floor of the house. She was doing everything right but still struggled to collect items and push boxes to where they needed to be despite knowing they needed to be pushed. PLEASE LET HER HAVE THE WIN SHE DESERVES IT. Fix the bugs
