Brütal Legend Review (NaveR)

Definitely recommended. Unconventional setting, original, yet sometimes predictable story. Unfortunately, sometimes the game feels unfinished.
Pros:

The story. It's cool;
The visuals. Just wow, so many things they paid attention to while creating the game;
The music. It amazes me how they were able to license so many (over 100!) tracks from real and pretty well-known or even famous performers;
The writing and the humor;
Real musicians starring in the game, including Jack Black as the MC;
The lore. It has its own damn lore!
Different mechanics and playstyles included

What could be improved here:

The music. Yeah, well, you get some music tracks after doing this or that, but... why can't we just listen to everything? I mean, I did every single side quest before the final mission, so I only got (almost) all of the music available during the post-game period, while searching for the collectibles? I don't think that all that music they got licenses for was meant to not be listened to most of the game;
Side quests could be more versatile. AFAIR, there was only one "go from A to B within X minutes" side quest and one main quest like this. I think some "ambush" quests could be easily replaced by that;
It partly touches the previous point, so... the game feels unfinished and it looks like they were really short on time at some point. You can feel this easily looking at the pace things have at the beginning and mid to end game. There's a bit too many "strategy" encounters in the end-game within a short time span. They take quite a bit of real time, yet don't let your story progress a lot. There were about three of these in a row in the late-game, with a bit of walking/driving in-between, and these parts (which are cool if they're split up by other things and if you can do something else before going for another one) make it a feel bit too long and exhausting.

Well, it could've been better, but it was amazing overall. I always keep in mind that DF used to be an indie company with a lot more limited resources compared to its current state.
