Company of Heroes 2: German Commander - Mechanized Assault Doctrine Review (Tabris)
Hands down this is my favorite commander for the original Germans and is likely going to be very popular with people who loved Coh 1. First up the assualt granadiers unlock on zero command points which is great letting you call in a combat effective and point grabbing unit off the bat. Every review here will point out that they don't have panzerfausts but you really shouldn't be dependent on them anywau so it's not such an issue in my book since they make up for it with their MP-40's and sprinting powers. They'll mess up most other infantry 1v1 at close range and they only cost 40 more manpower than normal granadiers plus they have a whole extra man in each squad (thats right no half men in these squads all limbs accounted for people).
The Halftrack with panzer granadiers is a great call in with both panzershreck upgrades optional and the opentoped varient of the halftrack, so you have a great mobile weapons platform (so you can put pioneers in there with a flamer or the shreks depending what you feel like doing, also if you liked the panzer elite in Coh 1 this will feel familiar). There are a couple of things to look out for since this is the 250 not the 251 halftrack be aware when choosing your bullitins and more importantly you cannot reinfore from this halftrack. Much as I loved the panzer elite those halftracks were overpowered.
The StuG-III Ausf. E is a short barreled assualt gun designed to take on fortifications in an infantry support role, this thing is not for fighting tanks. It's suppose to stick with infantry mounted in halftracks and take out mg's while intantry take out AT guns. It's handy to deal with infantry especially conscripts and shock troops who have less chance to cause it to much worry by themselves but remember that it's got a nieche and don't expect it to perform miricles.
The light barrage lets you break up concentrations of infantry like riflemen swarms and conscripts swamping you, but it says light for a reason don't expect it to mess up a tank or destroy a building.
The Tiger rounds out this list nicely giving you a line breaking heavy armoured monster to draw fire while the other elements destroy the AT infantry threats and flank tanks. This commander is really tactically flexible but works really well with a mobile, aggressive and well coordinated mindset. This commander works well in 1v1 and can take point in larger games working well with more support based commanders. If you like the sound of this commander I really reccomend picking up the case blue bundle since you'll get the theatre of war missions, this boss commander and the counter attack soviet commander which is pretty good value even when it's not on sale.
