Crysis 3 Remastered Review (𝐎𝐌𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐑𝐎𝐍)

MY RATING:
✔ ✔ ✔ ✔ ✔ ✔ ✔ ✔ ✘ ✘
8 / 10

All good things come in threes, right?
Like the other games in the series, Crysis 3 Remastered is of course also part of the Crysis Remastered trilogy.
So now the only question left is whether the story will come to a worthy conclusion.
The story of Crysis 3 takes place several years after the events of Crysis 2, in which we were able to avert the threat of the extraterrestrial Ceph.
But the victory over the aliens was also the basis for the rapid rise of C.E.L.L, a private military organization that already played a major role in the second part.
It's not over yet
The leader of the Ceph, the mighty Alpha Ceph, is still alive and New York, mostly in ruins, has become a veritable jungle where wild plants overgrow the streets and buildings.
C.E.L.L claimed victory over the Ceph, using alien technology to further expand their power and establish a military dictatorship.

As resistance against this vast organization grows ever more difficult, the rebels have decided to seize the only weapon that could decide victory or defeat.
Of course, we're talking about the nanosuit here, which developed independently through contact with Ceph technology.
And it is precisely in this suit that we find ourselves in the third part and, surprisingly, again as Prophet who supposedly died at the beginning of the second part.
I won't go into detail about the underlying events now, but I can tell you that, in the role of Prophet, we set out again for C.E.L.L. to bring down.
But first we have to get out of the hands of C.E.L.L. and luckily an old acquaintance from the first part's operations team comes to our aid here.
Psycho who rescues us from a transport pod we were frozen in.
However, as we are told in-game, he himself was cut out of his nanosuit. And this circumstance visibly bothers him more and more as the game progresses, so that the relationship between Psycho and Prophet is not always entirely uncomplicated.
All in all, I can definitely say that the quality of the story is roughly on the same level as Crysis 2. Sometimes the actual events seem confusing, but the staging is again very successful and is comparable to a good action movie and the short plot is still a good thing for the game in this case because there are no unnecessary fillers, even if the total scope thereby significantly reduced.
Apart from the plot and scope of Crysis 3, the game is very similar to the second part. This means that in the course of the game you are guided through relatively linear levels and are again confronted with a wide variety of opponents. Again there are partially open areas in which different approaches are made possible. Be it to attack the enemy position directly or to bypass it. Here, too, the abilities of the Nanosuit come into play, where we can, for example, either strengthen the armor or camouflage oneself temporarily in order to attack from an ambush.
So the basic gameplay hasn't changed, but the game has been upgraded with some useful things.
The most important innovation here is probably the bow, which, among other things, makes it possible to turn off the opponent silently.
The bow is also permanent equipment and can be selected separately with additional attachments, which in turn enable special attacks. In addition, the upgrade system has been revised again compared to Crysis 2.
A new addition is a hacker game that is essentially limited to pressing a key at the right time. Depending on the situation, hacking makes the gameplay easier, but in my opinion the whole thing is not really successful.
The trilogy contains three undeniably solid titles that were just as good ten years ago as they are today.
Like the entire trilogy, Crysis 3 Remastered benefits from the heavily revised lighting and textures, which are significantly richer in detail. Everything now looks even clearer, sharper, has more depth and looks much warmer and more harmonious overall.
The story in Crysis 3 consists mostly of one-liners, a sometimes annoying side-kick and a greatly increased number of movie sequences and, in my opinion, doesn't quite come close to the two predecessors due to the short playing time, but for me it's from the remastered trilogy the best of the three games and the trilogy thus comes to a fitting conclusion.
In my opinion, the remastered trilogy is clearly the best available version of the games and comes with around 25 to 30 hours of playing time for fans of first-person shooters with a single-player campaign, which has not changed in terms of play, but has been significantly polished technically.
But since there are no new expansions or an extended story mode in the trilogy, one or the other may see it as a lazy cash grab.
Maybe you can see it that way and that's why I would also say that whoever already owns the games and / or has already played them must ultimately decide for themselves whether the technical revision of the trilogy justifies the price.
For my part, I had a lot of fun with the remastered trilogy and don't regret having bought it (cheaply).
