Crystalline Review (melmelon)
I have mixed feelings about this game, but I personally don't believe it deserves to be in the "overwhelmingly positive" review ranking so as a means of balance I'm not recommending.
This game could've been really good, in my opinion. The art is wonderful and the animation is great! It's fully voice acted which is a cool touch, however the voices tend to be a little weird, like how an english dubbed anime sounds. The music is actually really good too, I enjoyed quite a bit of it!
The unfortunate part of this VA is the writing. Seemingly the easiest part of a visual novel to get right is just... bad. It's very tacky and while there are some good jokes here and there, most of it is really corny. Everything feels very contrived and the MC is a boring, overpowered everyman type. None of the characters are that special, very two dimensional; not that it matters, you're only able to romance one of them. Without the lovely art, animation, and music, this VA would be... prettymuch nothing. It's really sad to see all of the talent going to waste because of a shitty writer. It makes me wonder if the writer hired other people to make his fantasy isekai story.
Unless the writing gets any better than this, I'll probably not be looking into other games by this creator. The bland characters and story just ruin it for me. It wasn't very exciting but I did want to finish the game before leaving a comment. The ending isn't bad and the fantasy of it has nice ideas but overall, nothing to write home about.
Also, different VAs pronounced "Leanna" differently throughout the game, which was a pet peeve the whole time, lmao
