Dark and Deep Review (Dawntreader)
If you're on the fence about diving into the horror genre, this game is the perfect introduction. I don't typically play horror games but something about this caught my eye. Which turned out to be a great turn because the unique art style, puzzle solving, and engaging story-line made the game a real winner for me.
The art style is very unique, both eerie and captivating. Everything works together to build a cohesive world to explore. The art style really came out in one of my favorite parts of the game, the collectible "sketches" that helped tell the story.
The jump scares are well crafted and placed in the game for maximum effect on the story. There are a few that really catch you off your guard and force you to engage your focus at a deeper level. My favorite scare happened the first time I fell into the "dark water". Hopefully you get the opportunity to enjoy that scare at least once.
Overall I would recommend this game to both horror veterans and novices. I enjoyed trying out a new kind of game and recommend it for anyone looking to dip their toes into the horror genre.
