Dark Envoy Review (Doraver)
Dark Envoy is a tactical 4 character team-based RPG with a pause. Combat reminds you a bit of old Baldur's Gate 1-2 or Neverwinter Nights titles.
Although it doesn't use any D&D systems, it feels qite similar: you enter combat, game pauses, and you decide what course of action your party will take.
The story is simple journey of a brother and sister(both of which are customizable characters when you start your playthrough). While maybe story itself is not as unique as it could be, what makes it good is the setting - a scavenger's life in inhospitable world with every hardship it brings. Gladly our protagonists have family bonds to help them survive
While I haven't finised the story yet, I'm sure it will be very interesting to follow Kaela and Malakai on their path.
Combat is the best part of the game, if you ever wanted to try a tactical party-based RPG, look no further. We have 4 classes to choose from, with 3 specializations for all of them. Gear is not locked between classes, so amount of builds is surpisingly big.
Electrical melee mage? Sure.
Armored warrior with a bow? Yep.
Summoning robots and turrets? That's right!
Stealth poison rogue? Sounds fun (until the enemy is immune to poison...)
One of the best features is that you can swap skills and stat points on the fly. Found a unique aoe gauss cannon and not sure how your mage is supposed to use it? Swap his stats into crit and attack speed for free at any moment and watch him melting those pesky spiders with a cannon, completely forgetting he can use chain lightning as well
I can't say I'm not biased, I really love Tower of Time, their previous game, and just can't not recommend this one. But game has its flaws.
Graphics are outdated. Even by my standards, I have quite old PC and I barely got Baldurs Gate 3 playing on lowest settings. But even I notice clunky animations or stiff facial animations. I don't really care about it, but I know a lot of people do.
I wish devs decided to do more stylistic graphics, like, for example, Pathfinder did. Even though their animations and graphics are not good, a more cartoonish style makes game look much prettier
While not many, but bugs are there. Team is working on fixing, but you can still notice problems from time to time. At the moment I'm writing this, most annoying bug for me is that one of the spells doesn't auto-cast as it should, but I know it's gonna be adressed in the next patch.
UI has some issues, at least for me, I can notice some glitches here or there. For example, game keeps comparison screen for the ring I already removed, so it should not be there any more. I'm sure it will be fixed, but can't say it's not annoying.

For me, as I sit here a big fan of the genre, it's a 8/10, and when they fix the bugs and glitches, it will be 8.5/10, removing a point for graphics and half of a point for not having a romancable party members.
But I'm very biased. I look through the rose-tinted glasses and understand the game is far from perfect.
But if you are looking for a tactical RPG with combat as your priority, you will not be disappointed
