Death's Door Review (N/A)

hello all! below i wanna write some thoughts about Death's Door! hopefully it helps anyone on the fence about the game. ENJOY!
things I liked
- I LOVED the environments! from deep green, vibrant jungles to desolate ice capped mountains, the game invited you to enjoy all the levels with a nice mixture of exploration and secret discovery. There were definitely a few moments I was wowed by the visuals!
- The boss fights were enjoyable as hell! Not only was every boss unique visually, but they all fought in different ways that forced you to always adapt. I was never too frustrated by any unfairness, and once you learned the boss patterns from some trial and error (as this game demands) they became less of a chore and more fun.
- the storytelling and overall world design were an added bonus for me. I loved finding all the little trinkets that added some flavor text to the world lore, and finding all the odd characters living in the world was something I looked forward to cuz they always offered a little more insight into what was going on, and what happened before. Big props to the writing also, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
things I didn't like
- some of the hit detection is wonky and it led to more than a few unnecessary deaths in combat...and sometimes outside of it when I rolled off a bridge or platform LOL. I want to say it isn't a big issue, cuz you learn QUICK to stop making the mistakes.
- there are some systems in the game, like traversing the underground sewers via those gray disks you find around the levels that weren't explained and a few other little things that coulda used just a little more explanation. Did you know you can deflect almost every attack? Remember that going into this game!
final thoughts
I seriously enjoyed the hell out of this game. There was almost no huge problems that made me angry, and I liked the combination of exploration, combat, and storytelling to make for a complete experience. I'm going to highly recommend this game for fans of quirky Zelda-likes. I also enjoyed the Achievement Hunting, I think it had a good mix of exploration and discovery. And one other thing...this is nothing like a Souls-like so please don't let it dissuade you from trying this game.
