Doors: Paradox Review (Nichts)
The game consists of many levels, each taking max 5 minutes to solve. In total around 5h playtime.
I personally would prefer fewer, but more complicated levels with interleaving puzzle lines.
Most levels are very linear.
The puzzles and minigames are very simple, and in most cases quite obvious.
Quite often they aren't really minigames at all, and more of "tower of hanoi" style.
You just do what you have to do, without the need to think about them.
Often there were just few combinations and simply by playing with the switches the puzzle solved by accident.
Many puzzles are very repetitive - especially in the first levels - and feel more like a chore.
This is due to the symmetric level design. Usually the levels are like:
You find two levers to open one box on each side, containing each a key, that fit to two chests on each side, containing two special shaped keys. Those special shaped keys fit to two windows on each side, containing two gears. Those gears then need to be entered on front or backside of the "door" and lead to a minigame. After solving it, the door opens.
The best part of the game are the bonus levels, which are a bit more complex and well done.
Also the visuals are great.
If it is on sale and if you prefer simple puzzle games, or maybe looking for puzzle games for kids, I recommend buying the game.
If not, I don't recommend the game.
