Dredge: The Pale Reach Review (Sophi)
While not a bad DLC, it is rather lacklustre. Sure, its nothing more than 6 euro, it doesnt bring all that much.
The DLC is clearly meant to be played through in the mid game, and features a couple of fetch quests with some dialogue. It introduces a new mechanic (ice) as well as some new fish to catch. This is great. The game is of course nothing more than a lot of fetch quests as well as a fishing game which is rather relaxing, however, THIS fetch quest does turn out rather disappointing results.
While it brings incredibly interesting dialogue, setting up the new area and adding some lore and a new mystery, the quest ultimately ends up short, bringing you an unsatisfying ending that merely has you stop and think "was that it?" (at least in my case) and just sadly ends up making me feel like there is something missing. Not only does it do that, but the reward you get at the end ends up only being useful if you havent already completed the game, which i imagine the majority would do before they end up giving the DLC a try, which ultimately just makes me question, who was this for?
Ultimately, the DLC is not bad. It brings an interesting new biome with interesting lore and just... more dredge. However, given how unsatisfying the ending is and how i completed it withing 60 - 90 minutes, i wouldnt really recommend it. Especially not to someone looking for perhaps a new ending to the game. I'd suggest buying it when it eventually ends up coming on sale, given it's not, in my perspective, worth the 6 bucks.
TLDR: Unsatisfying main quest, no new ending, mid-game content. A few new mechanics. Buy it when it's on sale.
