Dying Light Review (ViolentStreak ✶HardA✶)

I've always had a discerning taste when it comes to certain video games, particularly those in the survival and zombie genres. I have a strong affinity for games set in post-apocalyptic worlds. Dying Light has managed to surpass all my expectations as a survival post-apocalyptic zombie game. It possesses every element I seek in a zombie-themed game.
After completing the Dying Light campaign, including its DLC 'The Following,' this game allows one to thoroughly explore virtually every building in search of supplies for crafting an array of weapons, ranging from blunt instruments to handguns and rifles. You can nimbly navigate the urban landscape through parkour and leverage the environment to your advantage. The gameplay mechanics are exceptionally smooth. The narrative in Dying Light is remarkably good, and the ominous atmosphere from day to night intensifies the overall gaming experience. While some initially criticized this game as a Dead Island imitator, the truth is that it's adopted and perfected the formula from that other game, making Dying Light an outstanding and impressive game in its own right.
For a dedicated fan of RPG, FPS, open-world sandbox games with a zombie theme, Dying Light offers everything one could ever desire. Freely traversing the city of Harran is a nearly seamless experience, as one leaps from rooftop to rooftop, scales tall pylons, and outpaces hordes of the undead, resulting in some exhilarating gameplay. The levelling-up system is incredibly satisfying, and once one acquires the grappling hook through levelling up, the fun escalates to a whole new level. The inclusion of substantial gunplay in a world where ammunition is scarce makes for a fantastic combat dynamic when combined and balanced with melee weapons. The game's difficulty balance is just about perfect for the substantial amount of content within the main campaign, and also with the 'The Following' DLC I'd played too.
Graphically, Dying Light looks stunning, featuring beautiful environments and crafted character models, all rendered with remarkable smoothness when navigating the streets. The true visual marvel, however, emerges when one ascends to great heights, providing breathtaking views of the city in various weather conditions and times of day. The scenic beauty of it all is nearly flawless. Both the main story and side quests provide many enjoyable experiences, and with its engaging gameplay, impressive graphics, and compelling storyline, Dying Light exceeded my expectations. Even the music score, an unexpected gem in a game of this genre, is exceptionally haunting in a retro-styled way.
I would rate this game a solid 95/100, making it one of the finest post-apocalyptic sandbox games I've ever had the pleasure of playing.
