Fallout 2 Review (BasedDuck)
If you're considering buying this game, just know that most negative reviews here are:
a) from people who are justifiably upset about Steam's changes.
b) from people who have absolutely 0 imagination or creative skills and need 4080p ultra HD graphics in every game, otherwise they will cry.
If you actually like RPGs, you have normal imagination (enough to say, read a book) and you like roleplaying - this game is absoutely fantastic.
There are dozens of different locations, NPCs, random events, quests and so on.
And there are mods that allow you to edit your save files to add some items to your inventory or add XP etc.
This helps with manual roleplaying - say you want to patrol the area for the NCR but there's no such quest to do? Well, patrol the area, return to the HQ, and use the savegame editor to give yourself the XP for the completed 'quest'.
Even without this, you can spend hundreds of hours in the game. At the moment of writing this review I have about 50 hours, I have started a few playthroughs, but I haven't even gotten to the half of the game. And that's just without any mods.
However,
If you need 'muh ultra hd 12031098p grapherinos' and you break down in tears if required to use some imagination or if the game provides less dopamine than scrolling through TikTok for 5 hours straight, don't play the game.
It may sound like I'm one of the "the old times were so much better" people, but I'm not. I literally only got this game a year or two ago, after playing through multiple new AAA games. And I still love it.
I would heavily recommend buying it.
