Fallout 4 Review (Vulgar Saint)
"You've played for 1909 hours
Would you recommend this game to other players?"
Bought it in 2017. I replay until I get bored, wait until I've forgotten enough of it to make it interesting again and replay it again. I cheat. I don't cheat. I play whatever difficulty level and switch it up as I go just to keep the challenge up if that's what I'm playing for. Sometimes it's just farting around with base building, trying out different layouts (fave is still doing the hanging-under-bridge designs at Finch and Gray Gardens). Also it should be noted that I've NEVER bothered with mods! Have to check them out someday.
In short... Yes! I would recommend! Despite it's age and some of the more annoying quirks such as load screens when exiting to main world taking forever... the game still holds it's own.
(Additional comment after another 200+ hours in game!)
Currently playing again after about a year. For me, this game is like seeing a dear old friend after a long while. The simple comfort of revisiting the "good old days" and catching up once again is priceless. The atmosphere of the game is deep. It has it's own soul so to speak, and no matter how many times I play, it's like coming home again. It's become familiar yet it seems there's always some little surprise to be found here or there.
Fanboi? I would have to admit to that but in all honesty... the game has earned it (at least from me). I do have the perspective of a player who hadn't played any of the earlier Fallout games until after this one and I think that I was (perhaps?) spared the poison of comparison. There was absolutely nothing for me to be expectant about and the game stood all on it's own merit without any shadows of disappointment as far as lore and the more popular features of the earlier games went. I had no expectations what-so-ever so FO4 got a truly clean and fresh start with me and I couldn't be happier with it.
