Fallout Tactics Review (nIKNAKNUIE)
It began with a Steam sale and i thought i was in for a treat but instead i was greeted with a dodgy port and a headache. For gods sake, what should i honestly expect, a game that i paid for to actually work on startup?
I honestly could not in good faith recommend a product like this in it's current state. What is even more concerning however is the strange and high overall review score. How could anyone in their right mind think that this is acceptable?
Upon running the game after installation it crashed due to some kind of Direct X issue which led to a fatal error, I then had to scour the forums in search of a workaround. I had a choice between playing the game windowed or tweaking the options menu, closing and then restarting to get the game running in full-screen. Of course i wanted full-screen with 1080p as the game comes with the High Resolution patch and should be optimised for it. Once in 1920x1080 the game's aspect ratio bugged out which created an even smaller screen than the default resolution and the UI was almost unreadable. Great so basically 1080p is off the table, what now? I run the game on default settings, I start my new game, I create my character and I enter the game world. The edge scrolling is choppy and slow and the game stutters to pieces. Yeah, sick.
I understand if you have a fondness for this game due to nostalgia, there's going to be a bias i get it. However, If you recommend this game to people as it is, you are doing a disservice to those people. This shouldn't even be allowed to be sold through the platform until it is fixed.
