Football Manager 2023 Review (newyorks)
For me, FM will always be a great game generally. It provides hundreds of hours of entertainment. But this is part of the problem, FM will always be good and as there are no alternatives, there's no need for SI to push boundaries or invest in developing this game further...
This game has hardly any new features over FM22, it's the worst iteration so far for that. This is the worst version for it so far, and i have bought every versions of FM and CM, since 2000. Scouting has been updated from a UI persepctive, but the functionality is effectively the same. Squad Planner is a development of Squad Depth, you may use, you may not. ME and tactics have minor tweaks but overall, the feeling is the same. Media is the same boring responses. I'd be surprised if anyone has the patience to still do Press Conferences now, they are just so dull. The Skin has a minor tweak but it just feels the same. Too many clicks needed to do anything.
I feel a bit cheated this year by SI. Normally i would feel like i couldn't go back to the old version after playing the new, but there is nothing i'd miss here, the new features are nothing of note and nothing that fundamentally change how you manage your team. So you could go back to FM22, with a data update and you'd be good.
If you've not bought FM22 or FM21, get this. If you have FM22, then think carefully before chucking your cash at this, especially with the increase in price. Again, i don't see what warrants a price increase here, its the worst value version so far.
