Forgotten but Unbroken Review (lnxpnk)
Highly recommended Turn-Based Tactics game
Many reviews comment on the similarities with xcom, but both from the setting and gameplay, FbU reminds me more of the classic Silent Storm and Silent Storm Sentinels. As in those titles, you control a multinational force of commandos fighting the Nazis behind enemy lines. There's a bunch to love if you're a fan of the genre.
Decent history and compelling characters.
Good graphics and visual style, immersive story videos and well made "event" animations.
Old school tactics. You have three tiers of aim, each costing more Action Points. You have a serviceable cover system, overwatch, all the bells and whistles.
A well made stealth system that fits very well with the commando setting.
Light RPG elements, soldiers have classes and an unlockable skill tree. as well as inventory options.
Weapon mastery mechanics, your soldiers will become more versed with a gun the more they use it.
Base building and managing between missions, which includes accommodating your soldiers, healing them, training them and fixing their weapons, as well as building and upgrading your base.
Light diplomacy, you have 4 different allies you can gain favor with and ask for help: the UK, the USA, the Soviet Union and a spy network.
You can recruit soldiers from a bunch of nationalities, each with specific traits and voice acting on their language.
Lastly, this game runs great in Linux vía Wine/Proton.
Microprose delivers again.
