House Flipper: Apocalypse Review (suitkace)
personally, im pretty neutral on the apocalypse dlc. its free and provides a bit of content, so i cant necessarily complain about that. i wont say the apocalypse dlc was my favorite, but it did add a decent amount of content that can be used within other homes without appearing out of place.
the dlc adds some really nice clutter that you can use in other homes. the packaged food and water can be a really nice touch to kitchen areas to make them feel lived in. a lot of the other clutter, like gas masks and guns, are less likely to be featured in your standard home. but hey, maybe youre into that and want to ignore gun safety by putting guns all over the walls. i do wish you could have gun lockers (to give the appearance of gun safety) or prop the guns up against walls or other objects instead of just hanging them on the walls.
the bunkers are pretty nice spaces for some apocalypse preparation. theyre generally a bit small, but it does provide a nice challenge to make a nice looking area within a small space. the bunkers are connected to homes, whether it be via a hatch in the yard or by some ladder in the home itself. although these bunkers are intended to be shelters for the apocalypse (or even severe storms), they can almost be treated like basements if you arent into the whole apocalypse idea. you can add in pantries, storage units, and additional bedrooms/bathrooms in the bunkers to make more "normal" homes.
the dlc also adds quite a bit of new content for a free dlc pack. new missions, homes on the market, several new items, and more. you even get a flamethrower as a new tool! the flamethrower is incredibly nice for quickly clearing the area out to start anew. its also kinda silly to imagine an actual house flipper showing up to the job and just torching everything.
however, ive seen other reviews mention difficulties installing and using the dlc. i personally didnt have any issues, but that doesnt mean you wont have any issues. the dlc is free, so at least you arent wasting money. but it is unfortunate that youre unable to use the dlc and obtain the apocalypse-themed achievements.
