Howl Review (J U I C E)
As a fan of Into the Breach and the XCOM series, I feel right at home here.
The puzzle aspect to the tactics are fun and engaging. All with wonderful narration and stellar art that compliment one another perfectly to create a super charming storybook atmosphere.
The voice of the narrator is calm and soothing, while the art is alive and gives everything so much character, especially the wolves, who have so many little dynamic expressions that constantly shift to telegram exactly what action they're about to make. The music perfectly suits the vibes of the game, the faint strums of guitar strings are exactly the kind of music I want for a puzzle/tactics game like this.
Having the hero be a deaf woman in a world overrun by werewolves whose very howl's turn you into a beast is a story set up I absolutely adore. Representation by itself is important and needed, but representation as a key element of the plot - a crucial part of the story which cannot be removed or else the story falls apart - is masterclass.
I've only just made it to Chapter 2, but as you can see i'm really into it so far!
