Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports Review (erc493)
Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports is a little special because after 17 years there is finally an another Looney Tunes game again (Acme Arsenal was the last one 2007 i dont count mobile games, there was also Galatic Sports 2015 for PS Vita but this game was also feeled like a mobile game too):
Pros:
+ on its core all 4 Sports: Tennis, Golf, Basketball and Scoccer are fun to play
+ 9 playable characters (with one DLC) are good enought but could be better for sure (Forghorn and Marvin are really missing here as playable)
+ graphics and its style are good
+ animation are alright (Tennis and Scoccer have to most polished ones, Basketball too but the hitboxes can be a little bit unsmooth)
+ Championship mode is fun (it depends on how long you want to make it you can play 4 to 8 different matches 15 to 45 mins)
+ challenge mode is good (20 on each sport)
+ some fun voice lines (references from the Original Looney Tunes, Duck Dogers and The Looney Tunes Show)
+ the title menu and its presentation looks good
+ they used Lola Bunny from The Looney Tunes Show which is great choice also in general a few references in the game from it too
+ controls feels good (just dont use v-sync)
+ game runs smooth no lags/performance problems (only Road Runner Canyon at the beginning the textures load a little to slow)
Cons:
- in the Martian Command Center Hole 4 is an bug where you or a bots after the starting hit the ball can just disapeer and you stuck and have to restart the whole thing
- the skins arent really that intesting there are no clothing skins only bat and ball skins
- content could be a little better like only 3 different places in Tennis, Golf, Basketball and Scoccer they should atleast made double them (Badminton and beach Volleyball could also be in the game but arent)
- bots can be weird at times on expert difficult, Tennis for sure feels way to easy, scoccer is good enought and Basketball is an hit or miss sometimes they feel good other times not so much and Golf mostly alright too but in some places they stuck and shot the same out over and over which is odd, also they could use a more dynamic playstyle maybe depends on the character himself so every one is unique or inteligence and shoudnt not focused mostly the same routes
- some animations can get a little more sound effects also the golf music feels a little to much on loop
- no german voice acting for this game is such a shame so far, as far as i know every Looney Tunes game had it
- if characters gets mad at Golf if they dont hit the hole for example the mad animation made theyre heads a little bit blurry (specially noticed on Porky Pig, Bugs Bunny and Lola Bunny)
- theres a rare bug where in Tennis if you use the special shots and an hit a enemy you can get a unreal crash error (it happends if i played as Sylvester and hit Lola with the Special Attack)
- in Golf Whispering Woods the shadow draw distance is kinda low for Ultra settings
- Road Runners Canyon Hole 5 near the waterfall there are a few grass parts in the air
The negative is not so bad, it is mostly just details that need to be improved and a bit more content. Tennis is in a way simular to Sega Superstars Tennis which is great. Game is fun for sure as an Looney Tunes fan but i wouldnt buy it full price if you arent really into it, not worth it because of the few content, better wait and get it for 20-30 bucks with Yosmite DLC.
