Magicka Review (Ghost)

Magicka is a rather unique action-adventure game set in a high fantasy world, loosely based on Norse mythology, with satire, humor, and references to pop culture and other games sprinkled throughout.
The spell system is the star of the show here, as it should be. You play as Invoker a mage with access to eight basic elements (water, life, shield, cold, lightning, arcane, earth and fire) that can be combined in different ways to create different spells.
Since this is an action-adventure, and not an RPG, there are no classes, no leveling, and most importantly no mana bar to limit your spell casting. Plus you'll have access to the majority of spells right from the beginning of the game.
This spell system is very fun to use, encouraging experimentation and rewarding dexterity, adaptability, and creativity.

Technical Notes:

Recent reviews are currently "Mixed" (50% positive) mostly due to technical issues (e.g. freezing, crashing, not starting) on Windows. Check PCGamingWiki for more info.
However, I was able to play through the entire game on Linux without much trouble. I only experienced a couple crashes during my play time. The main stumbling block was finding the right version of Proton. Thanks to a report on ProtonDB, I switched to an older version of Proton (6.3-8), and it worked perfectly.
