Max Payne Review (pitcho)
Despite its age, Max Payne sets the tone for the series in such a convincing way, that it becomes timeless.
The story telling its incredible, the novel styled approach resists the test of time with much ease and perfectly captures the dark tone of Max's story.
The gameplay serves as the base of the whole series and it's as fun as ever.
The following changes need to be made in order to fully-live this experience on modern hardware:
- The audio files need to be decompressed, look up Max Payne Audio Fix or follow a community guide.
- Lock the framerate to 60fps in order to preserve the physics stability, or avoid going beyond 120+fps.
- Install the WidescreenFix to correct the game's aspect ratio.
- Install the Max Payne Remastered textures to further smooth the experience.
