Metal Slug 3 Review (Ajantis)
I kept giving this game series a chance, hoping that the following titles will be better then Metal Slug 1 or 2.
Turns out - the games are becoming worse with each following instalment, not better.
People who didn't play this game and are contemplating the purchase of any Metal Slug title need to know:
- this games were originally made for arcade stands, not for PC. They were made to be as hard as possible in order for players to spend/insert many many coins in order to continue playing. So Metal Slug is something between an arcade 2D shooter and a bullet hell. You are meant to die alot. It is impossible to stay alive in most parts of the game. In this PC port you have unlimited continues, so you can finish the game no problem, but still....it's not entertaining, it's a mess.
The attacks and bullets come from all over the place, so it's a very chaotic and badly designed experience.
Metal Slug are those types of games where you have to memorize each level to perfection - the patterns of bosses and enemies and how they shoot and where to get cover - if you want a decent playthrough. The bosses are atrociously hard.
I repeat, you are given unlimited continues, so you can blast through that hell ( 5 levels only ), and then you can have another playthrough with 20% or 30% better performances.
The truth is = all Metal Slug games are a chaotic mess, only the die hard fanatics who spend hundreds of hours memorizing and perfecting the levels can praise this game.
Also the graphics is bad. For sure this is the last Metal Slug title I will buy.
