Mini Metro Review (Drood)

A deceptively simple game that will keep you coming back for one more go. Playable without reading the manual but there are a few tips that will help you squeeze a little more out of your layout.
I like the idea of the daily challenge, it usually only takes ten minutes or so and yet keeps you interested.
Like all great games the premise is simple - maximise the number of passengers delivered whilst avoiding overcrowding or a long wait at any one station. During the game you periodically get to an choose extra train, carriage, interchange, line or tunnel/bridge. It is that decision which will define how you play a particular scenario and that is what gives it endless replayability. Plus the random placement of the stations helps!
I do like having a few games like this in my steam account when I just want a distraction or amusement for half an hour as normally I enjoy time-consuming strategy games. But make no mistake, even if you are beaten on a map if you wish to carry on and see where it goes the are several creative and sandbox variations to allow you to continue and to extend the duration of games to several hours. Flexibility is definitely a feature of this game.
The graphics are abstract, simple and obviously based on the iconic first schematic map of the London "Tube" designed by Harry Beck in 1931.
This means that Mini Metro will run on a low spec Windows PC, even running under Win7 and DirectX 9 with 2GB RAM.
Whatever the price you pay it will be worth it as you will get back hours of entertainment. Great value for money.
