Moss Review (PB Doughboyy)

Well this was just an adorable action/adventure/visual novel game. The game is all done through seated VR play and you help guide your little mouse friend through the areas on a quest to defeat evil. Some of the controls on the Vive weren't super clear at first and took a little experimenting to figure out, like pressing left on the right touch pad swings the sword or uses a switch and pressing right on right touch pad jumps. Combat isn't too hard, though it's definitely more challenging later on in the game. Combat generally takes place in "combat arenas" where the exits will be blocked by flames until you clear out the enemies or in rare instances, trigger whatever switch needs to be triggered. The ability of the player to semi-control 1 enemy is an interesting mechanic and also leads to some nice puzzles. The puzzles in the game aren't all that difficult to figure out and are largely environmental things like moving platforms around for your mouse friend. There was one puzzle room near the end that I got stuck in briefly until I figured out that things just need to be done in a very specific order, otherwise there weren't any show stoppers that require looking up a guide at any point in the game. There's lots of secret scrolls hidden throughout the levels for completionists to hunt around for, I haven't found all of them as of this review, though I'm likely to give at least one more try to see if I can find the rest. The voice acting for the story narrator is good and fits the theme well. The full game took me just under 4 hours to finish a run with what looked like maybe 75-80% of the hidden scrolls located. It's definitely worth a look if you like adventure games with some action. I'll be getting the second game in this series at some point to see how things continue.
