Necesse Review (EarRaid)
Very similar to terraria, but with a top down perspective. I enjoy playing this so much! Building your own settlement and hiring npcs to work and live in the houses you make is a concept I really enjoy, then I can tell them EXACTLY how i want their job to be done and what they can and cant access or do. I can even take them on an adventure with me to fight and explore!
The new graphics update makes everything just look so good!
I've already gifted this to my friends and convinced them to play it, they seem to enjoy it just as much and I can't wait for more updates in the future!
A couple features I want to see added in later on:
Adaptive difficulty to all hostile mobs. After beating a new boss, mobs should ramp up a bit in difficulty to ensure that they do not devalue to just being an annoyance once you become extremely strong. Lets say you get the void armor and you've already beaten the Mysterious Portal boss. Plains biome monsters or zombies, goblins, vampires, those kinds of mobs now have maybe +15% health and damage. Beating the Spider Queen ramps up mobs from snow biome by 15% and plains by another 15% and so on. This also makes it that your old equipment will most certainly be outranked by your newer equipment and that making new armor and tools feel like a very worthy investment. Maybe we could see this as a setting to choose from the Survival mode settings in the future!
Optional death animations for animals, monsters, and players. Being blown into bits is hilarious but i think it would be cool to have a toggle for seeing monsters actually fall over and die. ESPECIALLY the bosses! Cool death animations for bosses might make the victory that much more enjoyable!
Trades and interactions among player villages to other player/npc villages. Anything like trade offers, communication through pigeon mail, calls of help from attacks, threats to attack one another, forming alliances to fight other settlements, trading settlers temporarily for their expertise.
Villages should have a leader who acts as the player, mining and fighting underground, chopping trees, building farms and houses, ordering villagers to be productive. This idea might be going a bit far as that may be a lot of new programming for the npc but the fact that other villages are working and growing overtime would be mind blowing! They could stick to minimal types of crops and structures to avoid someone just mining everything and getting free of charge simply make the village islands indestructable so that we cant go left and right pillaging peoples homes.
I love the different wood styles and hope to see more furniture, blocks, and floors for that!
Being able to interact with your settlers interests me a lot in this game. I would really like to see stuff like full conversations with them, npcs talking among each other while working/ specifically taking the time to do what they WANT (hobbies, activities, games)
Furniture which purpose is to allow settlers to take up hobbies and create things that makes them unique, like sewing, woodworking, arts and crafts, plush making, decorating their home, etc
Craftable items and tools that allow settlers to play games on their own time. A chess board, shuffleboard, a pool table, an ACTUAL pool, ziplines!!!!, a functioning baseball field, soccer, football, etc
Settlers should be able to make their own money if you allow them to sell some of your items to the pawnbroker for a reduced value to keep for themselves, then you could build things like a taco stand or cosmetic shop and require them to pay that money they "earned" for items you already have. This could be a nice start to having a full economy system for your settlement!
Basements. I can see the issue with a second floor on our buildings. You may build that and then someone decides to blow up the first floor or mine the walls and then the second floor topples over or also breaks down. What if we could have a staircase that takes us below the house while still being in the above ground part of the world? I think it would be a perfect place to put my ladder to the caves or an extra settlement flag if I think someone will destroy the first one! It could also be more space that the villagers and walk down to and store items or just more area to move around as my houses dont have a lot of room after being furnished.
writable books and notes, drawing on canvas to make paintings, importing pictures to the canvas to share ingame, importing audio to a blank vinyl to share ingame! If size is an issue when sharing it on the server (idk how online stuff works) It could be converted ingame or by the player another way to a size thats manageable.
