Nightmare Reaper Review (sergeantawesome)

This game has taken far more of my time than I have anticipated.
Nightmare Reaper is a lot of fun to play. Not something one needs to spend a ton of time into learning, but does have a surprising amount of depth to it.
Each level is randomly generated and keeps things fresh. If you don't make it through on one run, just try again. You collect money and weapons on each play through. If you die, you lose the weapons you have gathered, but keep the money which is used to spend on increasing your skills and abilities and making you more powerful.
There are a variety of weapons in the game that also increase with power as the game progresses. I have seen chainsaws, swords, shotguns, ARs, magical books, nukes, etc. There are so many to chose from and they also have different levels and rarities to them as well. If you finish a level, you get to keep one of the weapons and sell the rest which also helps increase the amount of currency you have to spend on new perks and abilities. Sometimes it is a difficult choice which to keep, so make sure you pick the right one to keep or things might get more difficult.
Gaining abilities is really unique and fun. Your menu is something with the likeness of having a GameBoy Advance with one "game cartridge." The first one you get gives you mini games to play that play like Mario Brothers, which upon completing a level, you unlock upgrades for your character. As you play further, two more become unlocked with vastly different styles to play, modeled after two other popular styles of games.
And wow, I have played this a lot and feel I still have a lot left of the game to go. So much to do. Levels are quick and short, but there are a ton of them with plenty of variety and ways to accomplish each. On top of that, you can unlock a sort of horde mode to play which gets another style of currency for other unlockable perks and abilities.
