Octopath Traveler II Review (kirei!)

This game really knows what it wants to be and doesn't care if people don't like what they're doing. They did little to change Octopath II's core from it's predecessor, however they've sprinkled little improvements throughout the experience to make it feel fresh and new, however I couldn't help but feel deja vu in some parts like I've played this exact scenario in 2018. Game takes a very dark turn, touching on some topics and themes I wouldn't expect an RPG to touch on anymore, especially when Octopath 2018 played it very safe with narrative. II feels like Team Asano was allowed to spread their wings and fly. The new 3DCG they're calling it leads to some cinematic set pieces I feel only modern technology can create while still giving a nostalgic feel from the Super Famicom era. Music has been cranked to 11, though I wouldn't expect any different from Yasunori Nishiku. All in all if you know you like these kinds of games chances are you'll find something to enjoy in Octopath II.
