OTXO Review (K0VALT)
Very Very Good for what it is. Is it the next hotline miami? No. Is it worth the $15? In my opinion, yes. If you like the action of hotline miami and the game design of roguelites this is PERFECT.
There are a lot of things to break down about the game design but overall I'd say many of the choices the designers made are clearly well-thoughtout and manage to take Hotline Miami's frantic combat while still making it playable as a Roguelite. The player has a proper healthbar, and its pretty generous, too. You can't really have a roguelite if you had Hotline Miami's "dying every 5 seconds" mechanic. It still manages to be extremely frantic as the Combo Meter directly increases the coins you get, which then helps the Roguelite aspect. Honestly it's impressive how the designer has broken fundamental staples of Hotline Miami and Roguelites and still managed to get the best of both worlds.
Pro-tip: I don't know if the tutorial explained this, but you can Kick with both the Left Mouse Button AND the Middle Mouse Button. You can even middle click while holding a gun and you can kick without having to drop the weapon.
