Scarf Review (D00mnoodle)

Sometimes you just want a relaxing game to unwind after another stressful day in the current world, and scarf will offer just that. This game is very light on mechanics both in terms of platforming and puzzles but that really works in its advantage as it allows you to better soak in the absolutely gorgeous graphics and entrancing soundtrack. I really did feel relaxed in my 4 hours with this game and it was suprisingly hard to put down. Some people may find the lenght to be a downside but this gave the game the perfect pacing gameplay wise and narratively. And even though the story and writing could've been executed much better, the animated images and voice over are very well made. The game also telegraphs very well how much content it has, as pretty early you'll be able to estimate how much more you have to go through till the end. Speaking of the end there's two different endings which was unexpected but a welcome addition. This depends on how much collectibles you discovered while exploring the 3 diverse worlds. Unfortunately some of the achievements pertaining to these collectibles are bugged and didn't unlock for me at the end, i still felt satisfied finding all of these. I also encountered one crash and some lag in the final level, which felt like a slight drop in quality at least in terms of polish and technicality. It looks and sounds incredible and works most of the time, so other than a few slight blemishes the game was a worthwhile experience that doesn't seek to challenge you but instead offers a captivating journey away from earth for a little while.
