Star Wars: Battlefront II Review (Judicah)

I grew up on the OG Battlefront 1 and 2 on the Playstation 2. It was my childhood. There was nothing like playing some Bespin Platforms when I got home from school. Those games were immaculately made for their time and leagues ahead of practically everything else out there. You could tell whoever worked on those games loved star wars to their core and it showed in the finished product.
I never played 2015 Battlefront. I would occasionally watch my younger brother play it on his PS4 or on YouTube on the rare occasion. But I never had the urge to buy it or play it. I can't exactly explain why but it just didn't feel the original Battlefront magic I felt all those years ago. I don't know if it was the fact it only had the Original Trilogy or how heroes felt, or maybe it was due to the fact I was now over 20 and had simply grown up. Then when 2017 Battlefront got announced and was revealed to be P2W garbage, I simply wrote the series and moved on. Never once looking at what the game was like.
Until one day in 2020. I got recommended some BF2 gameplay on YouTube. I saw someone go on an absolute tear with an ARC Trooper on Naboo. Watching that gameplay hit that spot from decades ago when I used to play Battlefront every day I got home from school. And before I knew it, I started looking up all sorts of gameplay. Heroes vs Villains, Supremacy, Ewok Hunt, etc. I ended up buying the game that night and getting like 2 hours of sleep before work the next day.
Now, 2 years later. I still love this game to death. This game is so beautiful and so immersive it's insane. Dunking on people with a Jet Trooper rocket, Clearing out a point with a shotgun, The sound of one shot headshotting someone with an NT-242. Dashing through a hallway as Darth Maul. Living out your Clone Wars fantasy as an ARC Trooper. It just never gets old. This is the best $40 I've ever spent in my life. This game absolutely lives up to the names of it's predecessors and quite possibly even surpasses them. This is an amazing game that was tainted by EA's greed. Now that all of that is gone you're just left with a perfect Battlefront that any newbie or OG Battlefront veteran would enjoy.
However, despite my love I won't say that it's perfect with no flaws. This game was like 1 or 2 patches away from being a genuine 11/10 game. Since EA wasn't getting their microtransaction money funnel from this game anymore. The plug was pulled on this game early. And due to that this game was left unfinished. New heroes were cancelled (Ahsoka and Ventress namely) and many heroes and villains have a lot of bugs with them. Especially Anakin who's practically walking spaghetti code currently.
So while EA has ruined this game at the start and the end of it's cycle. I can tell that the people at DICE who made this game were true Star Wars fans through and through. They showed more respect to this franchise than Disney ever will. This is an amazing AAA game that you won't regret buying. And that's really hard to say in the current market.
I give this game a 9/10. And if EA ever allows DICE to return and finish this game it will be an instant 10/10.
