Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Review (TheRavinRaven)
I really, really wish I could recommend this game. I absolutely adored the first one and was probably far too excited for the sequel. I have managed to play about 12 hours of the game. My honest thoughts are it should be the game of the year. You can feel how much love the dev team put into this game. The graphics and animations are stunning. The story so far is enthralling. The sound design is top notch. The game play took everything I loved about the first game and improved it.
I cannot, however, recommend this game in good faith because of what so many people, myself included, have experienced. The drops in the frame rate and the near constant crashes recently have made this experience frustrating and downright dreadful. I thought I was one of the lucky few whose issues were minimal. I was sadly mistaken as they compounded the further into the game I got. I'm not sure if this update (May 1st) made things worse, but I have had the game crash on me now three times today since updating. Each time I load it back up, hoping my save file has not been corrupted like others have experienced, only to play for another 10 minutes or so before another "low level fatal error" kills my game, my progress, and my patience.
I want so badly for this game to be amazing. I truly think it will be amazing once they fix the technical issues. The sad thing is EA and Respawn will make their money and do this again. I have little hope this game will be playable anytime soon. Quite honestly, my advice would be to pick it up at the fall or winter sale and save yourself the disappointment that is quickly souring my experience with this game.
My Specs:
- AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 4.5 GHz
- Nvidia GeForce 4080
- 32GB DDR5 memory
- Window 11
Under no circumstance should I not be able to play this game. As others have said, I am not EA's or Respawn's play tester and I certainly should not have to pay a $70 premium for the privilege of this profound disappointment.

Edit May 2nd:
After some digging on the forms, it appears turning off Ray Tracing can fix the "low level fatal errors" I was getting causing the game to crash. I was able to play through the 3rd planet without further crashes which from other poster's seems to be the most troublesome part of the game. For now, it is running. Take that info however you want.
I will post further updates as I progress through the game and in time if the issues are resolved. I still stand by what I have said: It is an incredibly fun and beautiful game plagued by a disastrous launch and plenty of inexcusable technical issues.
