Teardown Review (あ| Araniark)

Teardown is an absolutely fantastic PUZZLE, HEIST game, which involves patience, planning, and speed-running objectives. I stress this because most of the negative reviews come from a mismatched expectation that this game would involve vast amounts of destruction and/or combat. Teardown is simply not that. The most common mission type in the campaign involves grabbing an X number of objectives within 60 seconds and then getting back to your escape vehicle. This means that in most missions, you will be spending 10-20 minutes planning and "tearing-down" obstacles prior to triggering the 60 second 'heist', where you grab everything and get out. If a developer does end up reading this...I really think this game would benefit from a demo of ~5 missions. This would give players a chance to see if they like it, but also allow them to see if they have the hardware to run the game properly.
-- What I liked --

The game is well worth the price with a lengthy campaign and high replayability. I expect the average person would take 15-30 hrs to complete the base 40 mission campaign, depending on how meticulous they plan and how many optional objectives they go for.
Mission pacing is good, with some unique mission types sprinkled amongst the common '60 second heist' type missions. The objectives are challenging, but you can use mods or change some settings (like the timer) to make it easier to beat. Achievements are still obtainable with mods.
Excellent level and voxel designs, especially when combined with the weather types. I loved every map, super detailed, highly immersive with lots of places and rooms to explore.
Free mini expansion
Mod support with an existing selection of great mods! (Love the AC130 mod, but it kills my fps!)

-- What could be better --

Campaign could do with more destruction missions. However I can see why Developers avoided this as the game does have understandable performance issues due to physics and voxel effects etc... Even with a 3080, once you get a few fires going with some big explosions, frames start dropping fast.
Physics and weight does not apply properly to 'structures' or 'buildings'. This means that you could blow out supporting parts of a building, but it will remain floating in the sky as long as 1 voxel is still connected somewhere. (which I guess could also explain why there aren't a lot of demolition missions)
No keybind for 'quicksave'....this one is kinda odd, considering you use this button so often. Barebones graphics and game settings overall.
Game could do with a demo to manage expectations.
