Before You Buy
Tekken 7 is an excellent game with character designs, gameplay, and overall depth. A legendary series and its quality is still unmatched in 3D fighters. Other than the great learning tools it has (replay system/punishment training) and tons of guides to watch, there are significant downsides to consider.
-The Netcode of this game is not the best. Connection issues are common. You will be dealing with lag at times.
-Also, please consider some people love to "plug" (disconnect) whenever they lose a heated battle. So they don't lose points while losing credibility. (The game scores a player's disconnect rate. You can see it before you get into a match with them.) Double-checking before accepting players who have a high disconnect rate should do it. (Anything above %2.0 if you ask me.)
-You'll feel hopeless at times. After facing smurfs / literal cheaters (auto block/auto punish etc.) and lag cheaters (lag created by the opponent whenever you attack).
-Although in quick and ranked matches, players won't see their opponent's name until both parties accept the matchup. There are three indicators to distinguish players from one another before getting into the match. The indicators are Region / Language / Disconnection Rate. These could help you to avoid certain matchups or players in your play session. Said regions have six colors (red, blue, yellow, purple, pink, and grey).
-Until you learn how to deal with them, characters with gimmicky moves, mashers, and spammers will test your mental endurance.
Even if you survive this unpleasant environment and keep playing (especially) ranked mode, I have one last thing to share.
-After hitting "Ruler Ranks" (17th / 20th rank) you will most likely be facing top-ranked (29th / 30th rank) players who want to rank up their side characters. The first reason is they play the game more than other players do. The second reason is when you hit the highest rank, every other character you haven't played will jump to ruler ranks automatically. This scaling works on lower-ranked players as well.
Hopefully, Tekken 8 will resolve most of these issues.
Still, Tekken 7 can be an incredible experience if you match up with people who have some dignity or whenever you play with your friends for fun <3
