Tiny Tina's Wonderlands: Coiled Captors Review (geo981010)
TLDR - the DLC is fun while it lasts and adds some small bits, but is not worth the money.
The first of the 4 Molten Mirror DLCs, Coiled Captors has some advantages over the others but overall is disappointing. The big problem is not worth the cash: it is a $10 expansion pack that adds a handful of fairly static "puzzle" rooms that will take just a few minutes to run through, and a boss. There are cut scenes with new characters that we don't really get to connect to, and the puzzles amount to using/shooting the same triggers every time you run through them. To unlock all new gear you will need to beat the 4 different difficulty levels of the end boss who keeps getting new special moves every level but otherwise the puzzles/battles/etc up to that are the same. It gets pretty boring quickly, and it doesn't help that death causes to fail the mission and have to restart from the beginning. So as others have said, wait to get the season pass on sale as it is not worth the full price. The first 3 DLCs together are worth $10, and another $5 for #4 since you get a new class in that one. You do get new loot and more maps + bosses for the chaos chambers though for each of them, so that is nice.
That being said, Coiled Captors was my fav of the first 3 before Shattering Spectreglass (DLC#4). The early version of Chums is pretty straightforward, but the later difficulty versions were pretty funny and fun. Def my favorite boss of the first 3, and Chum will amuse other fans of bad horror movies. The loot was mostly decent, but the Sharksbane ring is fantastic: it can roll with double base gun damage (ie 30% gun damage at normal level), and the crit bonus buff increases it further and can be up almost all the time with a fast gun and decent crit chance. Maps are pretty straightforword and allows for good speedy harvesting of Souls (the new currency reward), but maybe not as good as DLC#4.
Probably worth noting in my experience in solo play, you can get Ascended gear faster via harvesting souls than other methods. Spinning the Wheel costs 25 souls, and at Chaos50 you get 3 souls for pretty much every kill. A quick solo run can be done in under 10 minutes and net hundreds of souls, and with high loot luck (ie get all the dice, up your mastery points, use Bradluck amulet while spinning, etc) you will average a couple of legendary items each spin. If you can't quickly run Chaos 50 quickly, run lower Chaos levels and save up Souls, and then change difficulty to C50 to spend them all. The bosses and his minions in the final area don't give much if any souls, but there are many places where enemies keep spawning while mission objectives are not complete where you can farm as much as you want.
