Travellers Rest Review (garry619)

I'm going to give this a thumbs up as it did pass a good few hours for me and was mostly fun. However considering this game was released in Early Access two years ago and is STILL in Early Access that should tell you something. Especially as the graphics and game play are hardly next gen these days. There are annoying glitches and bugs in the game that start to grate after a while, for example:
1: If you hire a barman, cleaner, etc, etc, they will turn up as soon as you get out of bed, before the inn opens and start charging you for their services. If you send them home but then open the inn later in the day they will not come back which means if you want a barman, etc, etc you need to constantly hire, fire, then re-hire to make sure you get one when you want one.
2: Lighting is so minuscule specific if you open in the evening. It might look lit up to you, but if the table has even a millimetre of darkness the patrons complain and give you a negative review.
3: The tutorials are pretty vague, they will get you through the basics but then you're on your own and don't depend on Googling an answer as there are very, very few people out there with answers for this game, just a ton of questions.
4: The farming aspect is slow, plodding and fiddly, though on the plus side if you grow a ton of stuff up front you hardly need to go back and plant them again for a long while.
5: You will find that hiring people is not cheap, 12 silver an hour, so unless you have a big bustling bar making money hand over fist you might find yourself trying to run it all on your own. Trying to serve customers, clean table, clean up spills all at the same time is .... stressful.
6: As mentioned this game is two years old, and yet really there is very little to it and after a while you find yourself grinding through the day simply cooking and serving, cooking and serving, cooking and serving. The quests run out after the tutorial and I found I had maxed out my levels pretty quickly and there is no where left to go. For two years of work I would have hoped the dev's would have given us more than this, especially considering the price of the game and even on sale it is hardly what I would call cheap for this style of game.
