Zool Redimensioned Review (Tekki)
A worthy successor that I'd argue even surpasses the original (which is actually included as a bonus feature with this game), Zool Redimensioned is a fast-paced action platformer. It's pretty straightforward: just run, jump, defeat enemies, and collect goodies. This game features a "redimensioned" mode which is more focused on getting to the end, or a classic mode that plays more similar to the original Zool by restricting double jumps and requiring certain collectables to continue. The art style keeps the charm of the original, but updates it a bit as well. The music also rocks, especially the boss themes.
One aspect of this game that I found really entertaining was the multi stage boss fights. Sometimes bosses just don't stay dead, and will have a second phase incorporating new tactics. Sometimes they'll even call upon their army to flood the playing field (which can actually work in the player's favour as enemies drop powerups!).
All in all, this game is a great welcome back to Zool: a rather obscure mascot that, as the game is quick to remind us, hasn't been seen for about 30 years. Here's hoping they can make another one!
