Cassette Beasts: Pier of the Unknown Review (Sombrero)

I wish I could leave a neutral review.
The pricetag is fairly low and I love the base game to death but this DLC has so little content it feelts like a glorified free update you somehow have to pay for. Maybe I would have been less frustrated if it was a surprise release and they didn't teased it and had trailers and all for it because the build-up to it versus the actual result is a bit jarring.
For all intent and purposes it's one medium size dungeon split in three parts with a couple of new cassettes and half of returning ones. The puzzles are on par with the rest of the game (a few new ideas but the physics/engine of the game isn't its strong suit so platforming is still quite janky to be perfectly honest), the bosses are as easy to completely break apart as for the main game (maybe even easier honestly) and the tiny amount of dialog/story isn't memorable. It's cute that your companion coming with you comment on what is happening as per usual but then again you will do everything with only one of them so you are missing the dialogs from every other.
I'm happy to support the devteam and I would tell you to buy it if you want to support their work but objectively it's not a really good DLC, unfortunately.
