Dead by Daylight: Tomb Raider Chapter Review (suitkace)
the tomb raider chapter is an amazing addition to dbd. it really opens up the doors for future chapters not being from horror franchises.
lara's character model looks really nice and shes also gotten quite a few nice looking skins. she even has skins from different tomb raider games. she also has several fun voice lines, which is a really nice addition. im personally a fan of the voice acted killers and survivors, as it adds a lot of life into the characters.
lara comes with the perks finesse, hardened, and specialist. ill try my best to give a decent description of the perks and potential uses.
finesse is a great perk to run to help you loop the killer. granted, it can be a bit finnicky. you have to get a fast vault in order to get the speed bonus, so if you land a medium vault, it wont work. you also have to be healthy, so once you take a hit, you lose the perk. regardless of that, the park runs with a cooldown instead of inflicting exhausted, so you can use the perk multiple times within a chase. this makes it a great alternative to other speed related perks, such as lithe.
hardened and specialist are...average, at best. the two perks push you to sort through chests in order to activate the perk. in the average match, you probably wont be searching chests, since it takes up valuable time that could be spent working on generators, looping the killer, and making altruistic plays. hardened suppresses your screams and instead reveals the killer's aura for a few seconds after opening a chest or blessing/cleansing a totem. if the killer isnt running any perk that cause you to scream, you get significantly less value out of this perk. i guess you could run this perk with something like scene partner to suppress the screams but still get the aura reading value.
specialist gains a token after opening/rummaging through a chest, up to 6 tokens total. you need to land a great skill check in order to use the tokens, which will then reduce the number of charges to complete the generator. this could be useful in a gen centered build. however, id recommend using elodie's perk appraisal to reduce the number of chests you need to find in order to get all the tokens. still, theres other alternatives to specialist, some of which work better. brand new part reduces the number of charges by 10, which is just 14 charges less than specialist does with the max number of tokens. id even argue that sable's perk, invocation: weaving spiders is the better choice, as it reduces the number of charges requires on all generators by 10, at the cost of being broken for the rest of the trial (and taking a ungodly long time).
overall, id say the tomb raider chapter is worth the purchase. lara croft is incredibly fun to play as with her voice lines, and her perk finesse is absolutely amazing. hardened and specialist have their uses, despite the alternatives to the perks. however, these perks are a great representation of lara croft and the tomb raider games. as annoying as searching through chests is, it really ties into the tomb raider games.
