Entropy Survivors Review (Arnett)
As of right now, this is my favorite Bullet Heaven/Survivor game to play. The various classes are each fun to use thus far, the abilities get get nuts, and there is a decent amount of difficulty. Multiplayer that works well just adds to the fun.
In terms of other reviews I have seen, If anyone does not find this fun then I feel like maybe there is just a disconnect with the genre. It does what all bullet heaven games do, throws tons of enemies at you while you work your way around a map collecting power-ups and xp hoping to string together a decent build. Nothing in the game is revolutionizing the genre but that isn't something that it is advertising to do.
Early on, my only negative thought was about how you have two categories of moves, Robot and Frog, and that the process of swapping between the two could feel clunky at first until you find a setting you like. I personally like letting the game auto fire my robot (mostly melee) abilities while I have control over the projectiles. Once I found what clicked for me, the game became a lot more fun.
Difficulty is average to hard at first until you start getting meta progression unlocks. There are some enemies that feel like BS at first but once you get far enough into a run they become trivial. Like many games in the genre you can absolutely get OP to the point of just running into mobs and barely getting scratched which honestly feels good.
Overall, the game is worth the price for the well functioning multiplayer alone. Combine that with goofy power-ups on the maps and the general design of the game and solid variety of core characters and you have a winning formula. This is not going to win any GOTY awards or fill hundreds of hours for most but for what it is, I think it excels. Would definitely recommend to fans of the genre especially when you have a few friends to enjoy the game with.
