Metro Exodus: The Two Colonels Review (Button Eyes)

The Two Colonels is a DLC for Metro Exodus, where you play as Col. Khlebnikov, the father of Kirill, a boy we met on the final chapter of the main game. Despite the playable levels taking place months before we reach that chapter, you should only play this game after finishing the main game. The reason is because this DLC is basically a "story within a story" where Kirill tells the story of his father to Col. Miller, to help him trace Khlebnikov's path after he separates from Artyom in said chapter. It's around the length of a linear chapter from the base game, maybe a bit longer.
The levels are more reminiscent of the previous Metro games, being linear and taking place in claustrophobic, familiar environments such as monster-infested sewers, human settlement Metro stations, and old abandoned facilities. However, the gameplay is simpler, for most of the game, you'll only use a flamethrower, except the 2nd act where you use normal guns . You don't need to worry about radiation and filters, just cleaning the weapon, installing mods, and finding (plentiful) ammo. Enjoy burning mutants with your powerful, new weapon!
The Two Colonels is a heartwarming tale about 2 colonels, who are also fathers that care a lot about their children, willing to go great lengths to ensure a better future for them. Definitely worth a try, its just as good as the main game, and it allows you to enjoy the aesthetics similar to the previous Metro games in their beautiful new engine. My only complain about this DLC is that we never get to play as Miller, his parts are only cutscenes. Would be cool if we can retrace Khlebnikov's paths as him, with some changes of course, like in some parts of Resident Evil Revelations 2.
