Skullgirls: 2nd Encore Review (CarThief)
Not a good idea to buy this game anymore. Simply put: the current developers STOLE CONTENT players paid for. Removing it from the game without consent (or warning). Who says they won't do it again? And modding it back is difficult/impossible for a multiplayer-focused game (if you want to keep playing online).
This isn't even a matter of copyright like GTA games and music forcing their hand. They (whoever runs the game now) themselves decided to straight up remove an announcer and literal art from an art book (and presumably the in-game art gallery too). Amongs other forms of censorship for sexual or politically correct reasons.
There's a whole laundry list of stolen (removed) content, but the most important ones that come to mind are...
- Stolen announcer (Soviet announcer).
- Stolen artwork from the seperately bought digital artbook (and presumably the in-game art gallery, too).
- Removed/rewritten story due to political correctness & censorship (Big Band's backstory, other story art).
- Crude edits to remove "panty shots" (that cause more harm and graphical/palette glitches then good).
The forums may have a more comprehensive list on the matter, why this is all occuring, and who is the culprit, but I'm just here to warn you that you should consider not giving your money to a bunch of plain and simple thieves.
Not to say the game itself is bad, if it werent for the fact it was run by thieves, it's still the best Indie-PC fighting game out there that is very keyboard-friendly and one of the few where you don't have to struggle against the controls. Though you will be getting yourself caught in a lot of infinite* combos if you dare go online.
(* Not truly infinite, but you're basically forced into a quick game of rock-paper-scissors and if you guess wrong, you go for another round in the Combo train.)
