Surviving Mars: Below and Beyond Review (Ezikiel)
First off, don’t buy it. At least not yet.
It’s still buggy as all hell, even months after release. They’ve fixed some problems but not others. It’s buggy, crashes my system, I invest in rockets that then get stuck on asteroids etc.
Very frustrating.
It breaks the game, so don’t buy it.
Even if they clean up the bugs, the new content is frustratingly implemented. It’s simply not fun to play and also pointless.
There are asteroids which you can mine, with a new resource that is needed for you to build in the underground.
But once you have the resources to go mine the asteroids, you have enough resources that you don’t need to.
And you don’t need the resources to help you build underground because you don’t need to do that either. There’s imply no reason. You have the surface base providing your needs, so there is no need.
The new content is unnecessary.
The only real benefit of the underground is a new research lab. However by the time you are able to build it, it’s no longer needed as you’ve pretty much completed all the research in the game.
The content doesn’t add any exciting new modes. If they’d thought about this carefully there might have been a fun new way to play, where you focus on the underground first and you mine asteroids to feed that colony.
However the balance is simply wrong so this isn’t an option.
I’m very angry about spending my money on this. Free would be too expensive, as it breaks your game. You can’t even ignore the new content because of the introduced bugs.
I have completely lost trust in Paradox, no way should this have been allowed to be released & they still haven’t cleaned up the mess.
